PG and Gap Year Programs ServiceA PG year is for students who have completed high school and want to attend a boarding school before going to college. Sometimes these students are just chronologically young for their grade. Other students may feel the desire to improve grades and study skills with extra support before college; they also enjoy taking enriched courses. The PG year builds maturity, confidence and preparedness and often helps improve a student’s college options. Many boarding schools offer PG year programs. These boarding schools have environments that range from supportive to highly competitive.
A gap year is for students who want to participate in a life changing experience before college. There are many gap year options. Some programs are a full year and others are a semester. Students may travel in the US or to another country or countries. They may be involved in a group community service project or develop their own project. Gap year programs may include hiking, journaling, camping, living with a native family, or in a foreign university’s dorm or on a ship. Attending classes, studying a new language and learning about new cultures are part of many gap year programs. A student who completes a gap year program usually enhances his/her sense of adventure, builds confidence and maturity, develops a passion and has an enriching experience. The student frequently uses the gap year experience as part of his/her college essay. What will be the right option for your teen; a PG year or a gap year program? I would be delighted to help your teen explore all of the opportunities available. |
